I'm gonna get real with y'all for a sec; last week sucked. Like Suuuuuuuuucked. You may or may not know that have spent the last few weeks prior doing lots of work putting in our new and improved orchard/permaculture garden; starting seeds, planting fruit trees, digging up yaupon (trying like hell to, at least), and planting all kinds of yummy veggies. Things were looking great, and we had gotten a good head start for once; then it rained for 3 days straight. Don't get me wrong, rain is great, but new veggie plants don't take too well to that much rain. Our potatoes – rotten, our peach trees – wilted, our peppers/kale/tomatoes/everything else we planted – drowned. I have spent time everyday since walking around the garden sulking, hoping to find some life. Well, TODAY I DID! Sometimes I think farming is a really expensive reminder of how bad we suck at things, and then boom…tomatoes happen 🏼
